"But perhaps, after so much talk and fighting, unspoken words do create a silence in whose gentleness the survivors of good and bad can sleep easy."

Miljenko Jergovic, from “The Saxophonist” in Sarajevo Marlboro, translated by Stela Tomaševic (via the-final-sentence)

La grande bellezza

An Italian film with the perfect combination of comedy, drama and romance that is able to send a deep message through a light-hearted and frivolous storyline.

Set on the energetic party scene of Rome, we are thrust into the world of Jepp, a retired novelist who has made his fortune on the sales of his one and only book. At 65, Jepp is still living the life of a man in his 20s, filling his loneliness with one night stands and lavish parties.

Although, Jepp in the sudden realisation of his old age and hollow lifestyle, begins to look back on his life with bitterness and regret, and in particular, a girl he lost from his youth, the one woman he ever truly loved.

A beautiful film that changes your perspective and reminds you to never stop searching for ‘la grande bellezza’ - and with the enchanting Roman backdrop, it is all the more delightful.
